(Click on image for enlarged view)This is an extract of part of Lord Macaulay's address to the British Parliament on 2nd February 1835 that I received in my mail recently. It bears an interesting observation of the Indians in India then. Note the proposal to replace the education system to break the Indians forever and to make them feel inferior, thereby losing their self-esteem and in the process allow themselves to be dominated. How conniving and cunning!

This was in circulation a few months ago. A friend who is a respected historian & meseum curator in Bangalore confirmed that it is a fake!
I checked the internet for more information and this is what I found:
It is a general misconception that this is a part of Lord McCaulay's speech to British Parliament because Lord McCauley arrived in India on 10th June 1834 and returned to England in early 1838. If in 1835 he was in India then how could he have delivered a speech in the British Parliament. He arrived in India by a 3 month long journey by ship so there is no chance that the Lord made a quick visit to England for delivering this speech.
